About Me

Hi, I’m Melissa. My friends and family call me Mo.  Welcome to my blog about creating a healthy family, home, and Earth!

My Family

My husband, David, and I have 2 beautiful children: Madeline and Charles. We are in constant chaos, as are most families! We juggle work, school, and everything in between. David is a Real Estate photographer and I’m a 5th grade teacher. I took an 8 year hiatus from teaching while I had babies and worked from home. During that time, I was self employed working in Advertising/Marketing and selling Real Estate. I’ve recently returned to teaching which I LOVE and it allows me more time with my kids, as well as a more aligned schedule. Of course-that entrepreneurial spirit and a teacher’s heart is what keeps me passionate about writing a blog. I love to share the ideas that I’m passionate about, as well as the creative freedom a website allows to make something of my own!

About Mom’s Happy Nest

Mom’s Happy Nest was born 8 years ago, right after my daughter. Becoming a new mom (best job ever!!!) had me researching and reading about all the ways NOT to mess her up! At that time, everything I read was completely new to me. I’m talking- mind-blown, eyes wide open, what the heck is happening?! I had NO idea!!! I learned about the dangers of BPA, plastic, skin products, bath products, pesticides, and the list goes on and on. Over the years, I’ve made small changes and sometimes have fallen backwards. Nobody is perfect. Let me say that again…NOBODY is perfect. What is important is that we keep learning AND we keep trying to do better. If everyone does a little better, we can make changes not only in our own family’s lives, but for our communities and the world. Knowledge is power. Action is powerful.

I hope you will find tons of helpful, useful information here. I love to share the things I learn with others.  I am on a mission to bring balance and joy to my home, create healthy meals, and use sustainable methods that are environmentally friendly. We only have one Earth (and one life), let’s love and respect it!
